Dear Ladies and Gentlemen & Honoured dignitaries of Japan,
I write to express extreme distress, anger and sadness at the annual dolphin slaughter and capture still being carried out in the Japanese town of Taiji. These dolphin drives are brutally cruel, completely unnecessary and have no place in the 21st century.
Japan is an advanced and otherwise beautiful country. It has the history and the capability to become the world leaders in marine conservation. It is unfortunate that the reputation of an entire nation is being tarnished by the work of a handful of people.
Dolphins are not fish, they are mammals. Dolphins breathe air. They have feelings. They have emotions. They have self-awareness. They are social, complex, intelligent beings. Even the nursing mothers and babies “iruka” are slaughtered with no mercy or they are stolen for a life of misery confined to small pools in aquariums. In the world of civilized nations, no wild animals are being eradicated like the dolphins are being slaughtered in Japan.
I understand that cultural food issues are complex, some people eat cows, pigs, chickens, some eat bunnies, dogs and cats, insects, etc. Yet the number of people who enjoy eating dolphin meat is dwindling, especially as people become aware of the issues of mercury toxicity.
The Japanese Government has the power to stop the hunts and I humbly ask you to appeal your representatives and work towards a move to end the annual slaughter.
Taiji could be a mecca for tourism if the dolphin slaughter stops. Dolphin and whale watching tours prove to be lucrative tourism activities elsewhere. Hopefully the thirteen fishing boats could replace their banging pipes and spears with binoculars, cameras, and other souvenirs of a joyous experience on your shores.

This is heartbreaking, horrible, sickening, horrendous, and should not be going on today. We as people have learned nothing about caring for and respecting Mother Earth, her animals and resources. When they are gone, we as people are gone…..We need to make changes so horrible brutality doesn’t happen like this in the 21st century! I am ashamed and embarrassed that we as people still let this go on……..
I am sickened, saddened, and horrified that this type of brutality exists still today. We have learned nothing as a people about respecting and caring for Mother Earth and her animals and resources. When they are gone, we will be gone!
Just looking for a way out! Desperation and pain.These are human emotions as well.Just goes to show you they do have fellings and emotions! Breaks my heart to see any creature abused! I pray God deals harshly with these people.

Orientals/asians do seem to lack empathy towards other beings without a doubt – probably more so than any other race. Just look at what they do to gentle creatures in places like china, phillipines, etc – no compassion, no empathy, no remorse. No doubt politically correct people will scream “racist!”, but thats ok, because i am mixed race anyway, and it doesnt make a person racist if they notice a pattern to a particular race’s behaviour. The terror and fear that drives a creature to commit suicide, rather than die at the hands of its would be murderers,must be unimaginable! This is what we (human beings) have become, and what those (who can stop it) allow to happen – probably in the name of (human) freedom. Humankind MUST be God’s worst and most evil creation.

Zasto bismo mi imali suosjecanje prema japancima zbog cunamija, potresa i katastrofa u nuklearnim elektranama, kada je sve sto im se dogodilo rezultat neodgovornog raspolaganja atomima. A oni nemaju suosjecanja prema zivotinjama? Dokle misle biti van svih mjerila ljudske etike.
What is going on with Japanese people ethic? Killing dolphins must stop. Why the Japanese people so agresive and have nou emphaty for other creatures on planet?
Because of that behaviour od those people in Japan I have no pation and no attention with problems with nuclear central, cunami and earthqu. Why We must bi patient with that people?
